University of Debrecen

With approximately 28,000 students, the University of Debrecen is one of the largest higher education institutions in Hungary today.
The University of Debrecen is located in Debrecen, Hungary. It is the oldest continuously operating institution of higher education in Hungary, having been founded in 1538.
The cooperation of fourteen faculties ensures the multidisciplinary background that guarantees the University a leading role as a research and educational institution and the intellectual centre of Eastern Hungary.
While maintaining its leading position in Hungarian higher education, the University of Debrecen aims to become a top research university by 2020, integrating education, research, health care and agricultural activities, with an international ranking in the upper half of both the "programmes" and the "institutions". By offering an educational portfolio in line with market requirements, the institution serves the labour market and at the same time responds to the educational needs of the socio-economic factors of the region. Thanks to a wide range of English-language programmes combined with an excellent quality of education, the University of Debrecen has been able to attract the largest number of international students of any Hungarian higher education institution.
The educational, research and development activities of the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences aim to meet the current and medium-term needs of Hungary, the agricultural sector and society. The Faculty trains experts at the BSc, MSc and PhD levels in numerous fields of agricultural sciences: classical fields (animal husbandry, crop production and horticulture), environmental management, food processing, game management, nature conservation and plant protection are included in the diverse educational and research programmes.
