The Department of Agriculture, Food and Environment aims to promote sustainability, efficiency and productivity in agriculture, food production and environmental protection, particularly in the Mediterranean region, by conducting cutting-edge research and providing high-level education. The department has several facilities, libraries and laboratories to support research and teaching activities in Agronomy, Agroecosystem Management, Mechanics, Food and Non-Food Crops, Plant Biotechnology, Agricultural Chemistry, Food Technologies, Animal Biotechnology, Animal Production, Plant Pathology and Applied Entomology.

Provide knowledge acquired during the last year relating to the diversification of wild MAP populations widespread in southern Italy, particularly Sicily, and the Mediterranean region, and their exploitation for production to support food supply chains. Particular attention will be given to presenting the results of growing methods and techniques that can improve the resilience of MAPS in organic farming, as well as improving the quality of produce in terms of its nutraceutical and sensory properties. The presentation will also cover related growing methods and techniques that could improve resilience in organic farming.
