Institute for Medicinal Plants Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" (IMPR)

The Institute for Medicinal Plants Research "Dr. Josif Pančić" (IMPR) is one of Serbia's leading research institutions dedicated to the research, conservation, and sustainable use of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs). With over 75 years of experience, IMPR combines scientific research, product development, and industry collaboration to advance the field of phytopharmacy and herbal medicine. IMPR specializes in the scientific identification, cultivation, and processing of MAPs, integrating traditional knowledge with modern scientific methods. The Institute also plays a crucial role in biodiversity conservation, studying Serbia's rich wild MAP resources and promoting sustainable harvesting and cultivation practices.
Through continuous innovation, IMPR strengthens research excellence and educates new generations of experts. It also contributes to the global recognition of Serbia's medicinal plant sector.
Role in the project
Ana Dragumilo
Ana Dragumilo works in the Department for Agricultural Research and Development at the Institute. Her research focuses on physical weed control through mulching, the application of non-chemical weed management methods in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants (MAPs), as well as their cultivation and domestication of certain wild species. She also monitors weed flora in MAPs cultivation.
Additionally, she has conducted research to improve the quality of MAPs and tests the efficacy of essential oils for weed control. Actively collaborates with researchers in both national and international projects, as well as with professors and scientists from the University of Belgrade. Since 2024, she has been serving as the President of the Scientific Council of the Institute for two-year term.
Within this COST Action, Ana Dragumilo leads working group 5 - Networking and Knowledge Exchange, where she coordinates activities in this area and facilitates collaboration with other working groups.
